The organizers behind the Houston-based website Islam In Spanish gathered over the weekend to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, an event marking the end of Ramadan on July 17.
The gathering was a way for Latino Muslims to come together since they can often be the only ones in their families who have embraced the Muslim faith.

As one commenter on the Islam in Spanish Facebook page stated, "As a Latino Muslim with no Muslims in my family, it was a difficult struggle to feel the sense of community."

But dozens gathered at Duhacsek Park in Sugarland to share food and participate in activities for children. One Latina Muslim visited from Venezuela to take part in the celebration.
